My korean learning journey: why I chose korean and how I'm learning it
Introduction:
Learning a new language is never easy, especially when it is very different from. your mother tongue.
This blog is about my korean language. learning journey. Why I chose korean, how I am learning it,and what I am struggling with along the way. I am not writing this as an expert. I am writing this as a real learner, sharing my honest experience so that other students like me don't feel lost or alone.
Why I chose to learn Korean?
My interest in Korean started naturally. At first I started watching Korean dramas recommended by one of my classmate but eventually I loved it that much that I started looking for other k dramas to watch. Even while watching the k dramas it didn't felt like that there is any kind of language barrier with the help of subtitles. Later on ,I realised that I genuinely enjoyed hearing korean, understanding small words, and imagining myself speaking it fluently.
Over time, my interest became more serious.I learned that korean is not just a language for entertainment but it also has real career value, especially in areas like:
* Korean companies.
*Translation, localisation and interpretation.
*Content and digital roles.
*Language based jobs.
That's when I decided that I don't want to learn Korean casually.I want to learn it properly and professionally.
My current level and Goal:
Right now, I consider myself around TOPIK level 2.
My goal is to reach at least TOPIK level 4, step by step.
I know this is not easy and I also know that progress can be slow. But instead of rushing or comparing myself with others, I am focusing on consistency and understanding.
How I am learning korean:
My learning method is simple and realistic.
It focuses on:
• vocabulary building.
• Grammar understanding.
• listening through podcasts, dramas and videos.
• Writing short sentences.
I don't try to be perfect but I try to show up regularly, even on days when motivation is low.
I also believe that learning a language is not just about books. It's about exposure, repetition and patience.
What this blog is about:
Through this blog, I will share:
• My topik preparation journey.
• korean vocabulary and grammar
learning.
• Study routine and resources.
• Mistakes and lessons I learn.
